Kidney Alert we’ve all been waiting for!
Kidney Alert we’ve all been waiting for!The good folks at @bswhealth have found a kidney match for my Pops!
If you are new to this story, here’s a recap. My dad (@steveg.kidney) has #endstagerenaldisease and has been on the kidney transplant list for 16 years. In Dec 2020, we did a #kidneycampaign. With the help of @creativebay.us, @tasharaparker, @wfaa, and the 18,000 people who viewed our video, we had 30+ potential donors test to see if they would be a good match.
Unfortunately none were the right match for my dad. In Spring 2021, he and I joined a Paired Kidney Exchange Program with @bswhealth. Essentially, if I am a good match for a recipient and their potential donor is a good match for my dad, we’ll exchange kidney recipients (for my visual learners, please see the graphic in the carousel).
In December 2022 we received word that a potential paired match had been found. 2 weeks ago, the good news was confirmed!
Our surgeries are scheduled for February 24th

!We don’t know the folks who we are donating to/receiving from, but I thank God for their lives. I thank God for not 1 but 2 people that will be receiving a new lease on life. I thank God for the freedom that will come to my Dad. I thank God for each person who shared, liked, commented on our video. I thank God for your thoughts, love, and prayers. I am so grateful. My family is so grateful.
